“ This grocery store is iconic to Ktown. It's where the whole roof top Koreans in 1992 started. Other than the history they have lots of good sales on veggies and produce which attracts a lot of the elders in town. They also have concerto bakery which make it continent for me! ”
“ A market with history and tradition where you can buy Korean food and daily necessities in LA. Almost any Korean food product you want or need is available here. There are several small restaurants inside the store, and the food is delicious for the price. You can eat light when you crave Korean food. It's an old place, so the inside of the store is narrow and a little inconvenient to walk around, but the prices are good and there are a lot of different ingredients, so it's the best place to shop. There are many restaurants, bakeries, cosmetics stores, and other shopping places around the market, so it's a great place to spend time. It's safe because there's security. It's a place worth visiting in this era of Korean Wave. ”
“ Typical Hannam Chain with "previous generation" ambiance. Must double check the expiration date of items on sale and pay close attention to the older ladies pushing around their carts without looking. Also, there's occasional entertainment in the parking lot where the security guard sits high on the "tennis umpire" chair with his loud megaphone yelling "don't park there," "move your car faster," etc. and getting into verbal altercation with customers. On a side note, would highly recommend the small bakery inside that is located near the entrace area which is a hidden gem with "delicious goodies" including their signature sweet potatoes pastry and salted bread. ”
“ Love the wide variety of sides for korean bbq and the meats as well. They have hot food ready but unfortunately no rice bowls which is why I stopped by this location. The store that sold pork and chicken katsu was closed unfortunately. ”
“ The Super King of Korean markets. This is where all the produce deals are at. On a Thursday afternoon, the parking lot was packed and reminded me of Super King on a week day. People were hovering all over the crazy deals on Fuji apples and Persian cucumbers. In Baja (Tijuana/Ensenada), erizo/uni is hard to find and now I know who is buying them...this grocery store. $5.99 for wild Mexican erizo!? During these inflationary times, everyone needs deals. Bring your patience for parking and around the deals on produce. You're welcome. ”
“ Best Korean market hands down. Always bustling with Korean and non-Korean people who KNOWS how FRESH their produces & great selection they have. Their fish discount sale live announcement reminds of actual Korean markets in Korea (ajusshi is really kind and funny) - if you ask, they'll cut most fishes for you to cook easier. Lots of Korean / Asian cooking gears, awesome prices on both fresh produce & cooked / packed meals. (No need to buy expensive meal kits from Instagram. Just try their banchans, jjigaes , Jeon , and grill fresh bulgogis at your home at fraction of price - of what you pay at Korean BBQ restaurants) If you love food & looking for some new finds, they update their selection very often, compared to other big corporate stores. Yes, Hannam Chain has been the go-to store for lots of ajummas & Korean families for YEARS because of freshness & quality / unbeatable price. (Try going there on weekday day time for less people, because this place is always lively with ton of visitors to buy their daily needs) I really appreciate my parent generation Koreans who built & kept old stores running like owner / workers of Hannam Chain. I would like to thank you for staying open past 30+ years & hard working / providing good Asian food, and good service to everyone as always. ”
“ I order halibut sashimi tray (Korean style) from here. The price can't be beat. Around $150 you can feed four adults and eat until full. They also give you gochujang, soy sauce, wasabi and the ingredients to make maeun tang (fish soup) with the leftover fish they fillet. If you like all the side dishes a restaurant gives you then definitely go to a restaurant but will pay more than double or triple for the amount of fish. If you are all about the fish, then this is the way to go. Call ahead and place the order. Go to the fish section and pick up the order form. Then go pay first and bring the receipt back to pick up your order. I highly recommend if you like halibut sashimi. It is so fresh, it can't be beat! ”
